Internal Wall Insulation
What it is:
Insulation fixed to the inside face of solid exterior walls, then plastered over.
How it works:
The same principle as external wall insulation, applied from indoors instead – useful where the outside of a building can’t be altered (a listed façade, for example, or a terrace where external work isn’t practical).
Key benefits:
- Suits properties where external wall insulation isn’t possible or permitted
- No change to the outside appearance of the property
- Can be done room by room, spreading cost and disruption over time
What it costs:
Typically £6,000–£12,000 for a full three-bedroom home, though doing it room by room reduces the cost of each phase.
Is it right for your home?
A good option when external insulation isn’t possible — but it does reduce room sizes slightly and involves more internal disruption (skirting boards, sockets, and door frames typically need adjusting). We’ll talk through the trade-off honestly at your assessment.
