Double & Triple Glazing
What it is:
Replacement windows with two (double) or three (triple) panes of glass, separated by an insulating gap, instead of a single pane.
How it works:
A single pane of glass loses heat fast. Adding one or two more panes, with insulating gas trapped between them, dramatically slows that heat loss while also cutting outside noise.
Key benefits:
- Reduces heat loss through windows, one of the weakest points in most homes
- Cuts external noise noticeably
- Reduces condensation on the inside of windows
What it costs:
Typically £500–£1,000 per window fully installed; a whole-house replacement is usually £4,000–£8,000+ depending on the number and size of windows.
Is it right for your home?
Fourwalls advises on glazing and can refer you to trusted, vetted
window installers as part of your whole-home plan – but we don’t install glazing directly. Listed buildings and conservation areas sometimes restrict what’s permitted, which we’ll flag
before you spend anything on quotes.
